Surprises

/ Lego camera series, summer trip with J – July 2016 /

Aarhus, Denmark

Naeroyfjord, Norway
Oslo, Norway
Prague, Czech Republic
coffee, a burger, a cutie in hand – parfait
Stockholm, Sweden
some raw, unfiltered (literally) moments I got to document throughout the trip.
bonus! a little somewhat poem:

Found a Burger King receipt from Denmark
In a second-hand book from Bath
While heading to town on the public transport of Singapore
Listening to songs I heard on loop whilst travelling around United Kingdom
Wearing a top bought in a store along the streets of Sweden
Exiting the train now, oh look,
There's the wallet I bought from Norway

Left parts of me everywhere –
Now they are all coming back to me

Look around, surprises
Are awaiting
(you)

Don't

Taken by me, on my lego camera
Don't
Don't tell everything to everyone
Like a painter
Your strokes define you
These secrets are your treasures
Maybe even life's simple pleasures
Someone could love you more
And no, it's not folklore

*Inspired by train rides, just looking out and staring. Staring a lot. At endless greenery, landscape, rust and dust.

Concept

This concept we call love
What's the hurry
Build your hopes like doves
Ready to fly but vision's blurry

Lost in the depths
We just want to love now, now, now
Without knowing the (inconvenient) truths
Remember – you reap what you sow

*Inspired by The Danish Girl, and the love they share. Everyday I'm learning to love better (only to those who deserve it, of course)

Yourself

Learn to tell yourself
Yes
No
Even I don't know

Touch yourself in new ways

Please yourself
Discover yourself
Educate yourself
Invest (in) yourself
Inspire yourself
Know yourself

Love yourself

*Inspired by Rupi Kaur and just, feminism. Note: feminism means equality, if you didn't already know that.

Young Hearts

Illustrated by Stef Mitchell
Young hearts sin & err
Let them be, there ain't no need
To save or pity

They'll be high on life
With ever scar, emerging
Bleeding and glorious

It's only skin deep
We refuse to remain the same
These wounds will not be for naught

*Inspired by Foxes' album glorious,
a conversation with J bout how there isn't a song titled 'High on life' (we're calling it!)
and my 'battle scars' (i.e. tattoos.)

People

Used to care what people thought
What for, no one has got it all figured out
Fret not, other voices –
They're just white noise

*Inspired by Childish Gambino's 3005. Well and I guess that's how I am as a person, but I do listen to my friends and family (sometimes).
What do you think of people?

Stay Open

The world is your oyster
Stay open

Leave room
For flowers to bloom
Give space
For thoughts to pace
Cross your heart
And let it all fall apart

These cracks don't mean it's broken –

Stay open

*Inspired by Open - Rhye & Open season - Josef Salvat. Also, I've always been fascinated by the saying 'the world is your oyster', why oyster??? (I don't exactly fancy them.)
